In May 2021, Performance Days functional fabric exhibition will be held again in digital form. The exhibition and the Functional Fabric Fair in the United States jointly created the online fabric procurement platform Loop to connect functional textile companies and create a year-round digital business space.
Looking at this exhibition, recycling has once again become the biggest topic. Jury's Choices (preferred by the jury) and Performance Days Award winning products, both the recyclable single material and functional hemp fiber are on the list and their performance is eye-catching.
Among them, this year's Performance Award was awarded to Trenchant Textile's newly developed breathable and waterproof thin polypropylene film SlickrB. The SlickrB film is on the outer layer of the fabric. The material is solvent-free polypropylene PP that does not contain perfluorinated compounds (PFCs). It is ultra-light and only 18μm thick. It has excellent breathable and waterproof properties. It will not damage performance due to daily washing, and is easy to degrade.
In order to achieve true recycling, Trenchant Textiles, with the assistance of recycling experts, has also developed a physical and chemical recycling process for pure polypropylene clothing, helping brands use a single material (including a series of zippers and seaming tapes). The auxiliary materials are all PP material), and a complete recycling solution in series.
Another work that won the Eco Performance Award is the summer knitted fabric of Utenos Trikotazas blended with hemp fiber, organic cotton and Tencel. In recent years, the sportswear market has begun to focus on the increasingly popular hemp fiber. Hemp is not only known for its natural antibacterial and anti-ultraviolet rays, but also requires less water during the growth phase. Combining organic cotton (GOTS) and Tencel, it is not only fully biodegradable, but also has excellent thermal regulation.
In addition, in the face of the post-epidemic era, the focus of the market has gradually shifted from the previous anti-viral materials to new healthy fabrics. For example, microcapsule technology and coating containing vitamins and minerals, or choosing fabrics and oily softeners with medicinal effects and antiviral properties, and people move towards a comprehensive and healthy life.
For example, Devan Chemicals' SceNTL technology can allow the bio-based capsules in the fabric to gradually release fruit aroma substances, and then achieve a calming and soothing effect.
Caverma Textil Ida’s 100% cotton poplin is added with medicinal aloe vera, which claims to improve blood circulation.
Caverma has developed The Luxury, a concentrated softener containing argan oil, which helps smooth the fabric and claims to promote cell regeneration.
There are other mineral-rich materials (such as SeaCell seaweed fiber, SeaWool fiber made from oyster shells), which are natural and have antibacterial, anti-ultraviolet, moisture and odor control functions.
[Performance Days adds Shanghai exhibition for the first time] In addition to the Performance Days functional fabric exhibition held in Munich, Germany every May and November, the organizer announced a month ago that it will open Performance Days Shanghai functional textiles from September 28-29 this year. The venue is at the Shanghai World Trade Center Exhibition Center.
