Circ, a portfolio company of Nan Fung Workshop, announced today, May 3, that it has partnered with Zara to launch the first collection of clothing made with its textile technology that recycles polyester cotton waste into new fibers. The collaboration is a key step in the fashion industry's circular ecosystem, presenting the first new women's clothing "capsule collection" produced from recycled polyester-cotton blends, which has been launched in 11 markets around the world.
The partnership between Zara and Circ is believed by the industry to solve one of the biggest challenges facing the fashion industry - breaking down the mixture of polyester fibers and cotton (known as "polycotton") into new recycled raw materials, and making clothes from them .
Circ's innovative recycling technology is the only one capable of successfully separating polyester cotton blend textile waste and recycling cellulose and synthetic fibres.
Using this technology, Zara and Circ have created a new product line, including Lyocell garments made from 50% recycled polyester cotton textile waste, and Lyocell garments made from 43% recycled polyester cotton textile waste. Polyester clothing. Under the creative direction of the Zara Woman design team, the collection showcases lightweight garments in a popular burgundy hue, designed to be timeless pieces.
Circ Chief Executive Peter Majeranowski said: "We believe this partnership with Zara has upended the fashion industry and consumers' perception of the possibility of sustainable development. Circ is actively making circular ecology the new standard, and this is the first time we have Delivering recycled polyester and lyocell garments made from polyester cotton textile waste to consumers. Through this partnership, Circ and Zara hope to gradually create a new future—one that will one day hang in consumers’ closets. Clothes are made from recycled materials and can continue to be recycled over and over again.”
Javier Losada, chief sustainable development director of Inditex, praised this pioneering series, which confirms the innovation of new fibers and cooperation with industry experts, which are the two key pillars to promote the circular development of the textile industry. Circ's technology opens the door to the efficient separation and recycling of any blend of polyester and cotton, one of the most common textile blends found in clothing.
